Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees.
Combine dry ingredients and mix them together well. Cut in the 1/4 cup butter. Add the shredded apple, then the milk and mix until it forms a soft dough. Add a bit of flour if the dough is too sticky.
Knead a few times, working the flour into the dough until it is barely sticky. Divide into two balls and flatten until they are about 6 inches in diameter. Divide dough into 6 pieces by pressing soft lines into the dough with a butter knife. (You don't need to fully divide it since it can be done after it bakes)
Place them on a well greased baking sheet or parchment paper and sprinkle them with brown sugar and/or cinnamon. Pop into the oven and bake for 15- 20 minutes until they are golden brown. Remove and cool. When the scones are cooled, glaze with Date Syrup and enjoy while warm.
